Jeffrey Melcer is a founding member of Melcer Newman PLLC and manages the plaintiffs litigation practice.  He previously managed his own firm for seven years prior to forming Melcer Newman.  Mr. Melcer is an experienced and aggressive trial attorney who has been trying cases on behalf of those seriously injured for more than 20 years.  A graduate of Brooklyn Law School, Mr. Melcer currently specializes in construction, motor vehicle, medical malpractice, municipal and premises liability cases but also has extensive prior experience in many other types of litigation such as civil rights, property damage, commercial disputes, landlord and tenant proceedings.  Over his long career he has taken over 100 cases to trial and achieved a exceptionally high rate of success in all areas of personal injury litigation.  Mr. Melcer has personally resolved highly complex injury cases where multi-million dollar awards were at stake.  Mr. Melcer’s extensive experience in complex personal injury matters assures he can find the way forward on any case when others cannot.  Mr. Melcer believes in listening to his clients, understanding their needs and their cases and aggressively advocating on behalf of his clients.

Jon Newman is the Managing Partner of Melcer Newman PLLC’s defense litigation practice.  Mr. Newman, a graduate of Syracuse University College of Law is AV-rated by Martindale Hubbell and has built a reputation as a top-flight trial attorney.  Mr. Newman's Trial and Appellate practice focuses on Labor Law and construction injury litigation, insurance coverage disputes, general liability including premises liability, motor vehicle accidents and municipal law.  Mr Newman's law practice defends owners, general contractors, construction managers and subcontractors in complex construction and New York State Labor Law injury litigation, coverage disputes and at trial.  Mr. Newman serves as Counsel for a national broadcasting and entertainment corporation handling personal injury claims brought against it, and he also has extensive trial experience in complex premises liability defense litigation and in representing municipalities and rapid transit and commuter railroad clients. Moreover, he is experienced in defending doctors, hospitals, dentists, podiatrists and other health professionals in cases alleging malpractice and negligence.

Gregory P. Bakos graduated from Northeastern University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History in 2010. Greg then attended New England Law | Boston on a full academic scholarship, earning his Juris Doctorate in 2015. During his time in law school, Greg worked in several legal clinics and internships gaining valuable experience in several areas of law with a focus on New York civil litigation practice.


Prior to joining Melcer Newman in February of 2018, Greg began his legal career as an associate attorney in a general practice law firm in Suffolk County, New York where he gained valuable exposure to many different areas of law. As a former general practice associate, Greg has civil litigation experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants, so he is able to effectively represent our clients with an understanding of both sides of litigation practice. Greg has experience successfully advocating for clients through all stages of litigation from inception through trial. Greg is admitted to practice in New York State and the United State District Court of the Eastern District.


Fabio Gomez graduated from the University of California, Riverside where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Economics in 2006. Fabio graduated cum laude from New York Law School where he received his Juris Doctorate in 2013.  Throughout Fabio’s time in law school, he worked in several legal clinics gaining invaluable experience in several areas of law. 


As an attorney, Fabio began his legal career as a prosecutor in the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office. There, he prosecuted various crimes including Sexual Assault, Rape, Robbery, Burglary, Assault, Firearm possession, Narcotics possession, and Driving While Intoxicated. During his time as an Assistant District Attorney, Fabio gained valuable courtroom experience as he tried multiple cases to verdict and conducted numerous hearings. Following the District Attorney’s office, Fabio worked as a Medical Malpractice Associate, gaining experience in defending doctors, hospitals, and other health professionals in cases alleging malpractice and negligence.
